Responsibility and Assignments

  • This is a high visibility role coordinating the entire reservoir engineering and capital planning process.
  • Candidate will work closely with the executive team to help oversee all facets of reservoir engineering, and forecasting from the asset to the corporate level.
  • Will be heavily involved with corporate reserves booking, strategic planning, bank borrowing base determinations, A&D activities and corporate financing activities.
  • Manage Company’s SEC reserve reporting process in determining mid-year and year-end reserves
  • Will track existing well inventory, new drill wells, recompletions, and workovers throughout the year.
  • Coordinate reserves with third party engineering consultants and banks.
  • Perform economic analysis on current and future capital projects and work with upper management on evaluations and recommendations.
  • Perform reservoir surveillance on existing company properties to monitor production performance and make recommendations to optimize well performance.
  • Perform offset analysis of current producing areas and/or areas proposed for acquisition or leasing to help guide capital allocation decisions.
  • Responsible for carrying out field and reservoir studies to develop the Company’s existing assets.
  • Work closely with other departments including finance, drilling, geology and operations
  • Will be responsible for automating several current manual processes into company’s capital planning tool.

 

Background and Experience

  • 5-8 years’ experience as a petroleum engineer with an oil and gas company, preferably with an operator, with a BS in Petroleum Engineering.
  • Experience in reservoir engineering as applied to unconventional gas reservoirs (specifically shale gas and horizontal well experience, preferably in the Haynesville Shale in Louisiana and Texas).
  • Working knowledge of commercial oil and gas economics software such as Aries, Peep, but PHDWin experience is highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas economic portals, such as RSEG, Drilling Info or I.H.S.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 2016, 2019Expert knowledge in Excel with experience running pivot tables, vlookups and “what-if” scenarios.
  • Able to work in a team environment with multiple disciplines and have excellent analytic, presentation and communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of how to evaluate economics on potential capital projects.
  • Experience in SEC reserves reporting guidelines and requirements.
